This new road tour traversing the beautiful Cordillera Cantabrica mountain range in northern Spain has all the ingredients of a true Skedaddle classic. It’s a heady concoction taking in three of Spain’s most beautiful wildernesses, the Somiedo (a UNESCO world heritage site) and Fuentes Carriones Natural Parks and the awesome Picos de Europa National Park.

It’s a challenge that will stretch the most seasoned pass peddler, tackling many a climb that has featured in the Vuelta de Espana. We’ve even dared to include the fearsome, infamous Angliru, often described as the toughest climb in professional cycling, as well as the huge Cubilla, the beautiful traverse through the Somiedo Park to the Somiedo Pass and the iconic ascent to the Lagos de Covadonga, all of which are going to be highlights of the 2010 Vuelta.

It’s a week of fantastic cycling through a relatively unknown region of this extremely diverse country. Superb accommodation in traditional family run hotels and inns serving the best delicacies of the region, not forgetting the legendary ciders of Asturias and fantastic local wines making sure you get a good night’s sleep!
