Spain - Alpujarras - Short Break - Classic Road Cycling Holiday

Road Cycling in the Alpujarras region of Andalucia is truly amazing; a mountainous region dominated by the snowcapped Sierra Nevada, and fringed by the soothing shores of the Spain's Mediterranean coast.

Our first day of the holiday sees us leaving the coast behind and heading for the hills. Climbing gently we ease our way into the olive-clad hillsides, riding through deserted white villages as we make our way to the high mountain Alpujarran capital town of Lanjaron, a fantastic place to spend the evening, and the best place to sample the unique local mountain cuisine and sweet wines.

Following a dramatic morning descent to Orgiva we climb up to the stunning high mountain white villages which this region is so famed for. Along the way we take coffee and cake beneath the mighty snowcapped Mulhacen peak, Spain's highest mountain. Later in the day we ride high along the mountain ridge to Trevelez, the highest village in Spain, before dropping down to Cadiar to spend our final night in the mountains feasting on fresh local produce.

Continuing our way along the ridge we leave the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra Nevada behind. Riding further along the ridge we then descend into the valley bellow for lunch, before climbing back over the opposing hills and descending into the early evening sunset and back to the shores of the Med for our final grand Andalucian fiesta night.
