If ever there was a destination in the British Isles to demonstrate that we don’t have to travel overseas to enjoy incredibly dramatic landscapes, genuine wilderness and incredible riding then it would have to be the Highlands of Scotland. Inspired by the reaction of participants in our Lands End to John O’Groats tours every time we get “north of the border” this extensive highlands adventure allows enough time to really soak up that unique Celtic atmosphere and takes in the best of the best of Scottish countryside.
Real mountain passes, fresh air, huge views, heather-clad hills for as far as the eye can see, wild animals, ancient castles and whisky distilleries, the Tour d’Écosse has everything you might expect from a visit to one of Europe’s loveliest countries.
Starting and finishing a short drive from Glasgow city centre you can’t fail to be amazed by the outstanding natural beauty & incredible tranquillity of what is a surprisingly sparsely populated region.
As the riding begins we’ll meander our way in a generally north-easterly direction through the breathtaking scenery of the Trossachs and the Cairngorms, taking in the wild beauty of the lochs and glens along the way. Upon reaching Inverness, the most northern point of our tour, we’ll change direction and head back down the country through the the Great Glen following the shorelines of
Loch Ness and Loch Lochy to Fort William.
Avoiding major roads as much as possible we’ll bypass Oban on our way to the Mull of Kintyre from where we’ll take a ferry to
the Isle of Arran. After spending a day and night enjoying the sites of Arran it’s another short ferry hop to the mainland before taking the final leg of our tour back to where we began in Glasgow where will will spend one final celebratory evening.
